Modern Traditionalist Townhome (2018)

A home designed by Emily Hughes in Iowa City

This is a second home for a couple from Florida whose daughter was a resident at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. The color scheme and finishes were reflective of their desires for a light filled, cool, calm palette of blues and creams. This design also embraced aging in place, with an accessible master shower and grab bars in the main floor bathrooms. Emily helped the couple select all finishes for their new home, built by Jeff Hendrickson, on a couple brief trips in from out of town. She also provided job site management, a furniture layout for each room, selected and provided the new furnishings, rugs and accessories throughout the home.
